SwitchVox is a Small Medium Business IP PBX Provider
I knew about this one yesterday, but I was sworn to secrecy. Digium is continuing their recent shopping spree and have just acquired IP PBX provider SwitchVox. The amount was not disclosed. SwitchVox, which is built off of Asterisk, is a wildly popular solution that offers great features, functionality and an awesome web GUI. According to the statement released by Digium,
Digium’s goal of making Asterisk easy to use put us on a mission to find the best of the best for Asterisk-based IP PBXs. After an extensive analysis, Digium chose Switchvox in recognition of their success as a market leader delivering easy to use, powerful solutions for unified communications and collaboration. Digium and Switchvox will begin integration immediately and plan to unveil a new product strategy and roadmap later this year focused upon providing SMBs and enterprises new choices in Asterisk-based communications solutions. Digium and Switchvox are committed to enabling our partners to be successful as we will strive to offer additional opportunities to our partners and resellers.
This acquisition is an ideal pairing of two companies committed to providing the market with Asterisk-based telephony solutions that are less expensive, easier to use and more flexible than other telephony products on the market. We look forward to an exciting future and our continued work with our partners and resellers around the world.
This certainly is some excited news and just another example of the consolidations and roll-up’s that will become a daily occurance over the next year or so as the market continues to mature. Tom Keating has an interview with Digium VP of Marketing Bill Miller about the announcement that is a must read.
