Fonality Customers Have Placed Over 75 Million Calls
Fonality announced today that more than 2,000 customers with 45,000 phones in 37 countries have adopted its open source business phone system, PBXtra(tm), and used it to place more than 75 million calls. Not bad for only selling their business phone system since 2004. According to Fonality CEO, Chris Lyman, “For three years, Fonality has been the leader in the commercial Asterisk market. This milestone of 75 million calls illuminates the scalability of our platform.”
Fonality Proves Open Source Scales
Fonality’s PBXtra includes a modified version of the open source IP-PBX platform Asterisk that Fonality has hardened for reliability and layered with feature-rich applications. Fonality’s business phone systems deliver more functionality with significantly improved ease-of-use at 40 to 80 percent less than the cost of comparable systems from larger companies. This is proof positive that any well constructed, well maintained, and well supported solution based on a open source platform can compete with the 800 pound gorillas of the world.
